YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW HOW TO TEST BACKFLOW PREVENTERS

How many of you BPAT testers know that several of the testing procedures have been changed in the 10th Edition of the USC Manual?  If you are not aware of the changes you:

1. Have not attended the local San Antonio Chapter ABPA meetings this year
2. Have attended but have not been paying attention to the informative discussions
3. Don’t care to keep up with the current procedures. The issue of not keeping up with the latest

procedures is not knowing how to pass your hands-on testing when it comes due. The testing in the future will be conducted using the new procedures and not the older ones that most of us have used for years.  The charts on pages 6 and 7 describe the differences in the testing procedures between the 9th Edition and the 10th Edition of the USC Manual of Cross Connection Control.

NEW LIFE FOR AN OLD CONTEST

The ABPA-SA Board of Directors voted to allow the $10 prize for the “Out of Place Word Contest” to accumulate from the months that did not have a winner.  For those who have not been following the contest, the prize this month will be $50.  This should be enough reason to read the information below.  Many of you might think you don’t have a chance against the “Movers and Shakers”, the Board of Directors, but that is not true.  There is a plan for you.  The plan will be:  If anyone who is NOT a member of the Board e-mails the correct answer within 8 hours after a first correct answer from a Board member, the non-Board member wins, otherwise first correct answer is the winner.  If you are not sure about the rules, refer to a January thru May 2010 Newsletter for a set of rules.
